It seems possible to attach musescore backup files (those starting with a dot and ending with a comma) to forum topic or issues, but these can then not get downloaded. So either attaching them should get prevented or the download needs to get fixed.
Chrome and IE11 (both on Windows 7) give error 403 forbidden

If I do upload such a file, I see a message reg. the file having been renamed for security reasons.

came up again in https://musescore.org/en/node/272824
This is still happening, e.g. in https://musescore.org/en/node/274302
either it should be prevented or download of then should be made possible (there are occasions where the backup file is useful, but these are rare and by far outnumber the cases where they get attached by accident)
It's been fixed, those files can now be downloaded

Yeah, but the dot in front of the file name will be removed upon downloading.
It needs to be removed for some operating systems so the file is not made invisible. You have to use save as in windows and I always remove the trailing , so MuseScore will open it. The solution is very acceptable to me.
Esp. as the Windows hidden attribute doesn't download anyway.
The best would probably be for the download to remove the trailing comma also, save an extra step for whoever need that file (like to reproduce an issue).
But the current way is OK already, "Save as" indeed allows for getting rid of the comma
