Can't use my USB Keyboard for Note Inputs
Hi.
I'm trying to make some music (obviously), but I can't because I can't input notes when I am in note input mode. Here is some information.
- When I'm NOT in note input mode, I do hear sounds when I strike a key on my USB keyboard, but I can tell there is some latency (likely because the driver I am using is MME instead of ASIO, because I can't use ASIO for some reason).
- The MIDI input option in the I/O tab is not grayed out and even detects my USB keyboard
- There is no other background programs that could interfere with my USB keyboard's inputs
- Whenever I go back to a note in note input mode and strike another key on my USB keyboard, it adds another note, even if it's is the same note and octave as the one I inputted using the virtual keyboard.
- My keyboard is the AKAI MPK MINI MKII
Any suggests on how to fix this, Please?
Thanks.

Here's the extent of my knowledge of MIDI keyboards - Did you start the keyboard before you started MuseScore?

No, I opened the application after I plugged my keyboard in. Plugging in the keyboard before reveals nothing. Nothing I press on the keyboard shows any results (no notes being played)

Which one is it; you can't add notes, or it only adds notes to the already entered chord?

Both, I can't add notes to rests, but I can add notes to chords/single notes.

Behavior like that is almost always due to your keyboard not sending
note off
messages when you release a key on your keyboard. Consult the manual of your keyboard to see if there is a setting to influence this.Indeed, there is a problem with the processing of the note off events. One trick that may help is to not test your keyboard first outside of note input mode - apparently there is some sort of glitch where that can caused MuseScore to get confused. Restart MsueScore and try again.
OK, for some strange reason, now it is working. I think I needed to turn off my computer so that maybe the driver could finish installing, I don't know. It didn't work when I woke up, but then I tried it again now and it started to work.
Edit: I figured out the source of the problem. For some reason, you can't have Musescore and Minecraft opened at the same time or else you can't do what I wanted to do (read OP). So moral of this forum post; don't have Musescore and Minecraft opened at the same time
