sound mock ups,engravers and composers

• May 6, 2018 - 19:39

There are roughly three types of users varying by degree and emphasis. There are those that want to get to midi playback via notation and a soundfont mock up for instrumentation. There are others who want to compose the music without emphasis on the soundfont, midi or engraving, though they desire readability. And there are those "copyists" who want to achieve perfect and beautiful engraving.

I wonder how the percentages by emphasis lay with the users of Msc.

I think most users will have a mix of those desires. I like legible scores, I prefer being able to copy close to the original but don't see the point of copying bad engraving from an original. I like playback to check the musicality of a piece rather than its final, actual sound and recognise that MuseScore is not primarily a sound creation tool. MuseScore can't do everything but it can do a lot.
