single piano stave with bass clef turns to treble after property edit
Having added a piano stave to a score, and removed the stave 1 (trebble clef) in the Instruments panel, the new (single) stave looks normal, and I put some notes in it.
But after editing some stave properties (short, long or part name) and closing the properties window, the (bass) clef symbol at the start of the stave turns into the treble clef, as is the stave type in the Instruments panel.
The staff clef can be changed back to bass using the Clefs palette, in Instruments windows the clef type remains "Treble".
I use the single-stave layout as tool with my piano lessons, because I want to control left- and right-hand part volume and mute controls separately in Mixer and visibility in Instruments panel, and will have a few versions of each part/stave, sometimes with click, drum, bass and/or voice tracks.
Attached is a simple score with 2 piano staves, the first unchanged, the second manually added in Intruments window, treble staff remvoed, and the staff long name edited.
Using version: 2.2.1 linux 64-bit. I don't remember having this seen in earlier versions.

My mistake.
Confirmed.
Steps:
1) Grand staff template
2) "I" -> Remove the first staff (treble clef) -> Ok
3) Enter a few notes in the remaining staff (bass clef)
4) Right-click -> Staff properties
5) Edit the instrument name (eg 'piano1', or 'pian', or simply clear the long or short instrument name) -> Ok
Result: the bass clef turns to treble clef
This issue doesn't exist in 2.1 version. Same behaviour in the current 3.0 dev.
Checking.
The change occurs on May 27, 2017.
A side effect I guess of ? (same previous mentioned nightly/commit) : https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/commit/3d280f21f72191d5775094179…
So to fix #4954: Change instrument via staff properties doesn't affect clef
This just came up for me! It is not fixed. (It was a bass guitar part created originally in MS2 then imported into MS3). I shortened the long instrument name from "Electric Bass" to just "Bass"
thank you. That solved my problem
