The order in lists, e.g., Palettes, appears random and is difficult to search. Suggest using alphabetical order. For example, change from: Grace Notes, Clefs, Key Signatures, Time Signatures, Barlines, Lines, ... Change to: Barlines, Clefs, Grace Notes, Key Signatures, Lines, Time Signatures, etc.
Comments
Won't work in other languages, so we would end up with different orders depending on language or same order, but no longer alphabeticaly sorted in other languages. Has been discussed before.
The current order has some logic to it, actually, but only some, and not one that is obvious or relevant to everyone. I would definitely like to see additional thought given to this. But I agree, the alphabet is not my first choice either. The palette containing arpeggios and glissandos, for instance, belongs in the same logically whether called "arpeggios and glissandos" or "glissandos and arpeggios"
We can create a custom workspace and sort it as we want (customize).
example: // My most commonly used ones at the top
Isn't this issue partially fixed for palettes with the new system?
However, menus order (like "style") remain strange to me. Is there some logic there?
I actually agree that the default order can have more logic, but if we do this change, users accustomed to the present order may complain, me also included ;-)
But personally I still prefer optimizing it.
It is easy enough, at last since 3.3, to reshuffle your workspace's palettes to your heart's content
https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/7997 has been merged. Does that fix this issue?
It should, reopen if it doesn't
Note though that the fix is in the developmentbuilds for master only, so would be in MuseScore 4
