How can I add a section part in my score instead of a singular part?
I'm working on a new arrangement, and I picked classical orchestra because it already had a lot of the instruments I intended to use. I noticed that the parts are plural instead of singular. For example instead of the trumpet part just saying "trumpet," it says "trumpets" instead. I tried to find the plural/section version of the trumpet (because I wanted to add a second trumpet part ) in the add instruments menu but I could only find plural versions of instruments for violin, viola, and cello/violoncello. I checked "all instruments" and could again, only find string instruments that are plural.

In the search box below the instruments list type the name of the instrument without the s and you will be given a choice of both with and without the S. You can actually stop typing after some of the letters in every case because you will end up with only the two choices.

I did and I couldn't find it. I checked the staff properties of the part name for trumpet and it said that the instrument was "trumpet" even though it was automatically named "trumpets" when I made the score. I guess I need to update musescore, or either the instrument was named "trumpets" just to represent a trumpet section because the feature hasn't been added yet.

I was using your specific example from strings, this does happen. The part names, long names and sound in the mixer are correct. I don't think the GM sound font standard includes both solo and section sounds for brass and woodwind instruments. Ziya's sound font does include these though.
This template uses plural as the name because it is set to write more than one instrument on the same staff. If you look at the mixer (F10 to toggle), you will see that the true timbre (sound) is "Trumpet". (Singular)
So the voice you're using right now is what you're looking for.
Right-click on "Trumpets in Bb" staff and select "Staff properties". The name of the instrument comes from here. (Long Instrument Name, Short Instrument Name)
And the Timbre (sound / Instrument) is "Bb Trumpet". See left side of the [Change instrument] button
The classical orchestra template was specifically created to represent the sort of orchestra used in a particular time period, and the assumption is that such orchestras would indeed have several trumpets playing the same part (just as for violins), which is why the template is set up that way. If you check out the other orchestra templates, you will see they are set up differently - instead of several trumpets playing one part, there are several parts for one trumpet each, as is the more modern convention. So if you are planning to write for a modern orchestra and want thing set up for that convention, best to just start with one of the other templates. But as mentioned, even starting from the "Classical" termplate, all you need to do is edit the instrument name to read "Trumpet" instead of "Trumpets". Just right click the instrument name and edit the part/long/short names in Staff Properties.
