Insert file into existing file as section
I had to redo a section of a score. The only way to do it was to recreate it as a separate file because of the extent of work. However, now I can't figure out how to insert the material of the separate file into the original score.
Is there any way to do this?

copy and paste

Thanks, but that did not work. At least not a straightforward copy/paste. And I'm not appending. It's an interior section.

"Didn't work" isn't a good description.
Copy and paste does work. But the target systems need to have the same time sig changes (if any) and some things, like repeat barlines, key sig changes

You also need to make room for what you are pasting by making sure there are the same number of empty measures in the destination. Pasting in MuseScore never inserts measures. Pressing ctrl+ins allows you to specify the number of measures you need to insert.
If you are changing time signatures, you need to work backward (or at least insert the last time signature first) to prevent time signature changes from affecting measures already entered later in the score.

Mike, Thanks for the details. I didn't have the empty measures set up. Luckily I'm not changing time signatures, so it should be straightforward. Will keep you posted!

IIRC paste does even append measures if need be

Noted -- and thanks for your help too. M.

Pasting does append necessary measures if there are not parts. I haven't tried it with parts.

Well possible, I haven't tried that either

Mission accomplished! Thank you!
