New instrument template thing
I want to make a score with the Puerto Rican Cuatro but I can't find a way to keep it as a template or whatever in the instruments tab and I can't find how to keep its custom tuning saved. I would also like to know if there's a way to make the instrument sound like it has double strings (like a mandolin for example).

Assuming you talk about this instrument, ie 5 steel strings instrument (current cuatro) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rican_cuatro, see these two templates:
1) Standard staff + Linked Tab staff: cuatro.mscz
2) Single Tab staff: cuatro TAB.mscz
If you want edit the tuning or remove a string (for the earlier 4 strings instrument?), see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tablature#edit-string-data
There is not specific sound for double strings instrument.

How do I add the template?

Save your score in the folder discussed in the link and it will automatically be used as a user template.
Once everything is set up the way you like, you can save it as a template. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/create-new-score#user-templates-folder
You will be able to use this as a starting point with the answers from the startup wizard applied - key signature, time signature, number of measures...
