Project

Create a score with a time signature besides 4/4.

Select a section of the score that does not have a time signature in the first selected measure

Use File->Save Selection...

Result, the file starts in 4/4 time, but does not display any time signature

If the first selected measure has a time signature, it is included in the file. Time signature changes within the selection are also honored.

I made this major, because rhythms are likely to be rewritten when the proper time signature is applied and it will take time to fix them.

I remember that. I just don't remember what version and there are so many 2.x "issues" I'm not going through all of them to find the correct one.

This seems to be being worked on. Currently if you save selection several measures that are in 3/4 for example, the measures end up 3/4, but there is no time signature and there is a half rest followed by a quarter rest in every measure. I'm not sure if this should be closed and a new one open or continue to use this one.

I also changed the new severity to S2-Critical since this is definitely not what is expected of the program, but there is a work around by entering the correct time signature, select all then ctrl+shift+delete to make measure rests as expected. I considered making the severity S1-Stopper since I don't see version 3 being released with this broken.

After updating this I realized that the rests in the measures were bogus and the measures were actually displayed incorrectly. Measure properties showed the measure are both Nominal and Actual duration of 4/4. Pressing ctrl+shift+delete made whole measure rests as expected, but in 4/4 time. Not pressing ctrl+shift+delete but entering the correct time signature fixes it.

I consider it a great tool when it works right (which it did in version 2). It saves a LOT of time when you create a symphonic orchestra with instrument names not in your native language. For a symphony, it is almost impossible to enter a second movement in the same score as the first, and the instruments are normally at least close to the same in all movements.

OK, glad you are finding it useful! To me, it feels almost like local time signatures with respect to how useful it can be (quite), how common its use probably is (not very), and how buggy it has been (too, even in version 2, although to be sure we fixed enough of them that by 2.3.2 it wasn't the disaster it was initially).

Anyhow, hopefully it won't be too hard to get it back into shape.
