I would greatly appreciate the inclusion of various ethnic instruments; more specifically, shakuhachi and taiko drums. Some sound effects, such as a gunshot, would make a nice addition as well. I'm sure I, as well as many others, would be most thankful for the inclusion of these instruments.

Shakuhachi is a flute, right? I'm quite puzzled that we don't have it available in MuseScore.
What is its ambitus (amateur/profession range of playable pitches), starting at D4 and going up 2 1/2 to 3 octaves, up to E7 (as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakuhachi)? There is a sound for them available in a GM soundfont, so that part is sorted. Seems treble clef and not transposing seems suitable? What to take for the abbreviated name?
Check the attached for correctness.
Please provide similar data for Taiko drums and other instruments you'd like added

Thank you for your help, though I do not understand how to add this file to my list of instruments when composing. Also, I do not know how to create a similar file for the taiko drums, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could create the similar file for taiko drums, or instruct me on how. Your help is much appreciated.
Just use my file as a template when writing for Shakuhachi. And check for correctness.
And provide the data I requested above for Taiko.
Request for Shakuhachi came up again
Updated template file for Shakuhachi, as per dicussion in https://musescore.org/en/node/325402
See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/9456 for the Shakuhachi
