I'm not seeing this in the second beta I just downloaded. I adjusted the display so the lines are in two columns. I adjusted the width of the palette slowly with my mouse and never saw this.
Using Windows 10.
I'm changing reproducibility to random until further info is gathered.
Yes, the workaround works inside the score. But this gives me another thought: Beside the text line there are some of the lines elements, I can reset to default after adding it inside the inspector, without changing these settings before. Not sure, if it's intended or should be fixed.
If I add a text line from the lines palette it's possible for "End hook", "Text" and "Placement" to reset it to default inside the Inspector.
The same for pedal ("begin hook", "end hook"), upprall line (reset to default changed it to a trill line) and so on.
Maybe I miss something, but I don't think it's intended.
It's not clear for me. Should be the default value of the end hook for a text line none hook? And should be the default value for a upprall or a downprall line a trill line? It's for me very confusing.
(I didn't check all lines elements)

I see it with the latest self built version, slightly newer than alpha 2
The text Placement is set to Automatic, should be Left
Workaround: Just use the Reset to Default button for Begin Text Placement, so those textlines look OK in the score

I don't get that, please elaborate

Well, I don't think this is a bug, that just happens to be the default values for that type of line
