MuseScore 3 - Note input
Most probably I am missing something, but do not find how to choose the durations for a note Breve (8/4) and Longa (16/4) , which were available in 2.3.2.

They are the same as they were in version 2. Place your mouse over the appropriate button and the shortcut will be in parentheses. If you don't see the duration button then you are probably in custom work space since they are displayed in both the basic and advanced work spaces.
