Playback interpretation of legatto
Will version 3 somehow address the playback of legatto or slur indications on a score? I've read that could be done by editing note lengths/positions through the piano roll editor, but using this editor doesn't seem to be safe enough.

You can certainly lengthen notes via the piano roll editor 0 not sure what you mean about this not being "safe". But it won't make slurs for wind instruments actually sound as such, with the different attack etc. For that you'd need soundfont and/or synthesizer support that is not yet implemented (well, there have been experiments, but nothing likely to actually make it into the initial 3.0 release).

What I mean is that I tried to use the piano roll editor and I had a crash. I've read somewhere else that crashes are kind of common when using the piano roll for editing note lengths and/or positions. I'll continue trying though.

I just did it again and I found that yes, it is possible to simulate legatto by extending the length of note bars in the roll editor. The problem is that is must be done changing the duration of the bar in the number of ticks (if that's what it is), in the text box and not graphically by using the mouse on the bar ( as I expected it to be). Also, the new length doesn't show immediately on the bar. I had to close the roll panel and open it again and there it was, the bars modified to new length. So it seems this is not a full fledged piano roll editor, but yes, it can be used to provide legatto effect when playing back the score.

Are you using the MuseScore or a build of MuseScore 3? I'm not totally up on all the changes, but I do know the new editor is much improved. Looks like length can be changed graphically if you prefer using the control at the bottom of the window.

I'm using MuseScore 2.3.2. I downloaded the zip file for version 3 but I didn't find a setup executable to install it. I don't know how to install it. Any enlightenment on that will be welcome.

In the bin folder just run the exe file. There is no install, at least that's how it works on windows.
