Every note I input with my keyboard is being put in as a quarter note.

I'm using an older version of a Casio keyboard with Musescore 3 on Windows 10 but regardless of how long I hold down each key it just shows up as a quarter note. I also have to completely lift my fingers in between notes or else it shows up as a chord. I used an older version of Musescore with a different keyboard years ago and can't remember any of this ever happening. Is there a setting I'm missing or is there something wrong with my hardware/software?
