MuseScore 3.0.5 won't load
just downloaded the new version and it crashes everytime I try to start it. It opens two windows
1. MuseScore crash reporter.
This allows me to enter a description of what it was I was doing, but when I enter a (short) description and press "Send Report", that too fails. (Also fails if |I don't enter a description) Gives the message "Musescore crash reporter. exe has stopped working"
2. The second window is just a black window with the heading
c:\program Files\Musescore 3\bin\Musescore3-crash-reporter.exe.
I have deleted everything and downloaded again but the same result.
I'm running Windows7.
Any suggestions (apart from continuing with MS V2.3.2) ?

Thanks Jo-jo for the suggestion.
Tried that. Answered all the questions. And then it failed in the same way.
Also try opening a score, rather than the program.
And/Or try one of the other command line parameters such as -w or -s
Tried with all 3 parameters but same result every time.
Downloaded again but to a second machine and almost the same result but this time the "crash reporter" didn't fail, rather it gave me the message "Crash report uploaded successfully" So I hope that helps the developers diagnose what has happened.
Until then i continue with V2.
Thanks for your comments.

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit?

I'm trying to run the 64bit version on Win7

OK... so version 2 works, but not version 3.
In what folder does the version 2 exe file (i.e. the one that works) reside?
Program files, or Program files (x86)?
(You may need the 32 bit version [EDIT: of MuseScore 3] for your computer processor.)

MuseScore 2 only exists in a 32bit version (officially/supported)

c:\Program Files (x86)\Musescore2\bin
I always take the defaults when setting uop software.
I'm running i7 processors with 8Gb memory and I've run the 64-bit MuseScore V3 before, loggting problems when I found the.m

Is it a 64bit Windows 7?

Does your second machine also run Windows 7?
If the report I found is the correct one, MuseScore still should launch correctly with
-s
flag. Did you try it on the machine from which you sent the bug report? In reply to Does your second machine… by dmitrio95
Both PCs run Win7.
My normal PC has an i7-4800MQ processor @ 2.7GHz with 8GB memory.
This has been running MuseScore since V1.
I installed MuseScore V3 once it was released and it worked but there were too many problems for me to use it for my music work (laying out scores for a Male voice choir (TTBB + Accom)).
I logged at least one bug for V3 (to do with lyric Placing in continuous view).
As V3.0.5 was announced, I downloaded that version and it instals ok but won't run, always goes straight into the crash reporter which also fails, presumably without sending therror file.
I have run it from the command line with -F -w -s flags and get exactly the same result.
I have clicked on a number of my existing V2 files and again the results are the same, failure.
My second PC is also an I7 processor 860 @ 2.8 GHz with 8GB memory and 64bit Win7.
Don't know what else I can say.
Just tried again on my other PC and it told me my last session failed did I want to restore that session so i chose yes and MuseScore started ok. Closed the software and restarted and it's fine! (Well it runs)
BUT
I need MuseScore on my main PC, that's where I have my 800 or so scores.

Your main PC i7-4800MQ is 32 bit, then?

Actually this sounds bad if even the crash reporter itself fails for some reason. If running MuseScore from a command line, does it print any messages to the console during its execution? Maybe they could give some hints about the reasons of the crash.

No messages shown to the console.
I double click on the MS3 icon (Or run it from the command line) and after about 2 seconds it displays a box with a black background and the heading is
c;\program files\musescore 3\bin\musescore-crash-reporter.exe
Then immediately it displays a second box having the heading
MuseScore Crash Reporter
Unfortuantely MuseScore has crashed. Would you like to send a report to
make it possible for us to fix the problem?
Please describe your actions when the crash occurred (optional):
Then there is a white box into which I can type what I did.
There then follows a tick-box labelled Restart MuseScore and 2 buttons labelled Send Report and Cancel.
I've tried typing in the box and leaving it blank.
The action is the same when I press "Send Report"-- NOTHING.
Eventually I do get a message from the Crash-reporter-exe screen.
It opens another box that says
MuseScore 3-crash-reporter.exe has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I don't know what else I can tell you.

Have you tried right clicking the MuseScore3.exe and then 'Run as administrator'?

Just tried that and get exactly the same result as before. It fails.
I just downloaded the 3.0.5 update and running High Sierra. I still get the notice that the app closed unexpectedly when I quit the program.

Different issue. And known, see #281867: "MuseScore quit unexpectedly" when closing MuseScore 3.0.[1-5] on macOS with a MIDI device
