Style Templates
I am confused on how to save a template for further use.
I've installed the latest MuseScore 3.0.5.6021 from the Microsoft Store.
Rev: OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.5.6021, revision: e2902c8
I've successfully customized the layout with:
Format -> Style -> Page
and
Format -> Style -> Lyrics
See attached file.
But I don't see how to save this custom formatting in a template for further use on new scores.

Simply save it into your templates folder, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/create-new-score#user-templates-fol…

I'm allergic to the word "simply". 1. Adding it to a sentence never makes the instruction simpler. 2. If the reader still can't figure it out you've now effectively called them a moron. 3. Usually an instruction containing the word "simply" leaves something crucial.
Case in point: your link starts with "any templates that you create", meaning that the information about how to actually create templates seems to be somewhere else.

Jojo pointed to the crucial part of the instructions. It's always a good idea to read context if there are more questions, like how do I create a temple? A few paragraphs above you find https://musescore.org/en/handbook/create-new-score#templates

With regards to your allergy, are we talking about a full-blown anaphylactic reaction, or do you simply develop a localized rash?

To be clear: no special steps are required to create a template. It's a normal score. Take a score you like the look of, save it to your Templates folder. Feel free to call that something other than "simple" if you like, but probably the hardest part about that is finding your Templates folder, and that is covered in the link given.

It is simple. Really.
Don't read anything into my reply that I didn't write.

Also, FWIW, the OP to which that comment was replying had already created the template. So he didn't need information on how that, just on how / where to save it.

Thanks!
I had read the handbook file, but it was not helpful at all for this issue.
I finally found the correct menu item needed:
Format menu -> Save Style...
I had been searching for Save Template in the handbook document, but this did not lead to anything useful.
Even searching for Save Style does not lead you to the correct menu items.
This is a weakness of the handbook. Although pretty good overall, it is not sufficient.

If you follow the directions for saving a template, it will allow you to use the file as a template for future scores. It will have all of the same settings and instruments when you use the template in the new score wizard, the difference is that all notes and text you have in the score will be removed in the new score.

The point is that in the handbook there are no directions for saving a template.
You simply need to go to the menus: Format -> Save Style...
However this does not appear in the handbook.
Is there a separate directions for MuseScore that I should learn about?

I have seen this 'template' page in the handbook multiple times.
It talks about Templates, not Styles.
And where does it say, "Save the template /style using the menu item 'Format menu -. Save Style...' "?
No where.
My initial impression of muse Score is positive.
I figured out any things, especially with the help of the handbook. However the handbook is poor on this particular issue. The handbook talks about emplates, but the menu structure refers Style, not template.
As near as I can tell, the hand book never says to save your Style using the following menu items:
Format -> Save Style...

Save style and save template are separate things. The latter includes the former and adds instrumentation.
The former is just style settings and needs to get loaded into an existing score to change that score's style.

The online manual is really good but I find it better to use its table of contents and internal links rather than searches.
If you download the manual in pdf then your search for Save Style works.
