A pop-up came up on my computer saying that MuseScore had a new version. Click here to install. I did. After the installation, I restarted my machine like is always required and then tried to open MS. It opens for about 1 second and then closes. I tried what I could to solve the problem with no success. I chose v3.1 from the pulldown, but I don't know what the designation is since it won't stay on long enough to check.

As I'm sitting here typing, I'm thinking that I just downloaded a virus and maybe the thing to do is take MS off my machine and start over.

Workaround No ⇒ Yes

Rather than work with the mess that had been created, I removed the existing MuseScore file, ran a virus scanner and then downloaded a new MS program from the website. I think all is well now. I opened the program and it stayed open. I'll go back and start using it now.

Oh, btw the downloaded program that would not work was v3.1.0.7078, 299 MB.
The newest versions that I just downloaded from MS site is v3.1.0-x86_64.msi. In case that means something to the code writers.
