Hide empty staves feature
I am trying to hide empty staves in first system of my score (voice and piano), "hide empty staves" is checked, "do not hide empty staves in first system" is unchecked and still first system is there. Any ideas on what to do?

yeah.... the deal is, i got impatient and manually made all the measures invisible one by one in "measure properties"... now the score looks like this but if i go back make it all visible again, there will be a vocal line of empty measures in the beginning. the funny thing is, in the second system empty bars disappeared when i checked "hide empty staves" but unchecking " do not hide empty staves in a first system" did absolutely nothing...

The *.mscz file.
Edit: Maybe missing a system break?

oh... i didn't think about that. i'll try and let you know. i just don't have time to put all those hidden measures back but i'll let you know if this works. thank you for the idea! that said, i think if one simply uncheck "don't hide empty staves in first system", it should take care of it. maybe there is a flow in software somewhere. anyway, i'll try what you suggested, thank you.

There is no empty staff, so nothing to hide, just partially empty staves.

In which case, probably what was really meant isn't "hide empty staves" but instead, the "cutaway" option in Staff Properties, which hides empty measures. or perhaps both.

OK, i finally got a good sample of my issue. the first screen shot is what my setting look like. Second is the result of applying those settings. As you suggested, i put a system break at the end of the first system; "don't hide empty staves in first system" is unchecked, and "hide empty staves" is checked. yet, in first system all empty staves are showing. any ideas?

Jojo guessed right: Allegretto movido is a staff text attached to that first staff, thus it is no longer empty.
Your tempo marking was also attached to the 2nd measure, which is rather odd.

I did what you suggested and it worked. Allegretto movido was the problem. Thank you!

Indeed, the actual score would be needed in order for us to do more than guess. But if did need to guess, my hunch is that top staff has "Hide when empty" set to "Never" in "Staff Properties".

also, i just went to staff properties, changed "hide when empty" from "auto" to "always". no results.
