"Open Recent" almost never works

• Jul 6, 2019 - 13:06

OS: macOS Mojave (10.14), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.2.2.22888, revision: c893c61

"Open Recent" rarely lists any files at all. After a crash, it is guaranteed to be empty. This has been the case for a very, very long time (i.e., older than MS3). The persisting database should be updated when a file is successfully opened (or written), and not any later. Given that there continues to be no navigable listing of open files (no, the tabs are not navigable), it is especially important that the "recent" list be right.

For me, Open Recent works after a crash - it shows what had been recently opened as of the last start. I believe this is because the recent list is written on exit.

Not sure, though, what you mean about a navigable listing of open files. Are you saying the Ctrl+Tab doesn't work for you, or you want additional navigation above and beyond that?

Ctrl+Tab does nothing for me (no op). Cmd-Tab, of course, switches to another application. I'd like to see a vertically-stacked, scrollable list of open scores in the same order (reversed) as the tabs. The tabs are not navigable. I want to know what is open without visiting them all. The list should be written when a score is opened or written, not when the app (maybe never) exits cleanly. My complaint is probably Mac-specific.

For me the most annoying thing of open recent is that it doesn't show the file path.
That's extremely annoying when you store files locally, on NAS and in the cloud.
