Transferring Files into MuseScore from another software
Good morning –
I am a new comer to MuseScore. My dear friend introduced me to it over the weekend. I have been working extensively on other notation software. I am wondering if there is a way to import completed scores from the other software to MuseScore. Thus far, I have been able to copy from StaffPad and bring that to a new MuseScore score. It appears on the score, but in a different window. I am not able to actually add the music to the MuseScore template. Please tell me there is a way to do this?
Thank you for your time and assistance. Please respond to the following email: MusicandWordsbyDannyScott@gmail.com.

Thanks.
You cannot simply copy from the other program and paste it in MuseScore. The format of the data is likely to be very different. As shoichi said, the best option is to export to musicxml (xml or mxl works also) and open it in MuseScore. MuseScore will do it's best to make it look like it did in the other program using its own features.
If musicxml is not an option an undesirable option is to use Midi. The problem with this is that a lot of data is lost in the midi but may be easier than entering the score by hand. Make sure you read https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/midi-import if you end up resorting to midi.
