Unable to deselect during playback

You used to be able to select a note/measure where you wanted to begin the playback, and then click in the margins or blank space to deselect them during playback. This is no longer the case, which is an issue because the selected note(s) will remain lit-up in the piano for the duration of the playback. I like to slow down my playback and then use the piano to check for any voicing mistakes, but the constantly lit-up note(s) make that process confusing.
