Mass erasing

• Aug 7, 2019 - 04:42

Hey,

I am writing in some rhythms for students but to get it the way I want it I need to enter it in as bass drum in drumkit (musescore 3). It automatically puts me in voice 2. So I highlight the run and change it to voice 1 but now I have rests in voice 2. So I click and delete, but I have to click and delete each measure.

Is there a way to click and delete all of voice 2 without having to repeat it?

Thanks.

In order to advise better, we'd need to understand the context more. Why do you want the bass drum in voice 1? If you are creating some special notation in general where that's how things are done, just edit the drumset to make it the default. Or if it's just for the one measure, consider leaving the bass drum in the voice 2 but hiding the voice 1 rest.

So, I'm creating rhythm flashcards. The best way for me to have it look the way I want, is to put it into an instrument without a treble or bass clef, have the note on the bottom line or space, and click invisible staff lines so the only thing a student sees are rhythms.

I don't know how to edit the drumset, or mass hide rests.

I'm up for all easier ways to do this!

Thanks.

Are these flashcards specifically for drums, and you need the playback to also use bass drum? If so, then you can always edit the drumset to put the bass drum in voice 1 (see the Handbook under "Drum notation" to learn how). But if you don't need the playback to be bass drum, easier to just enter regular notes on a regular staff, and use Staff Properties (same place you hid the staff lines) to hide the clef as well.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.

So...
Instead of using a whole drumkit, create a score and select an unpitched percussion instrument. Here (in my posted example) I selected 'Concert Bass Drum' which gives a single staff line (so no lines to make invisible). Also, no messing with voices.

To place notes, in note entry mode, select duration(s) and press 'A'.

Try adding rhythms to this:

(You can even hide the time signature and drum clef, if desired, using staff/part properties - right click a measure to access.

Regards.
