I need to add lyrics. How do you add space between cleffs to add text. When I start the text is running into the notes.

Be sure you are adding lyrics. See:

Space is created for lyrics as needed.
Lyrics should create the space they need, please share a score if they don't for you
Space is automatically added in page view. In continuous view, in order to keep things fast, it is not. But you can add a spacer from the palette to create space manually.
