An issue seems to have developed in one of the nightlies, involving tempo text:
- Create a new score with "factory-default" style settings.
- Apply a tempo mark to the score from the palette or via shortcut.
Problem: The "remove custom formatting" button is active, but shouldn't be, as all formatting should be at the Style level only. - Press "Remove custom formatting"
Problem: The tempo mark becomes bolder. The note symbol is distorted and out of vertical alignment with the numerical text. - Deselect the bold icon in the Inspector.
Problem: The note symbol and the numerical text are still out of alignment.
Comments
Pretty sure this is by design, the predefined tempo markings do contain custom formatting (to switch to the "musical text font" defined for the score and insert the special version of the note glyph designed to align well in for tempo markings). Remove that custom formatting and you get whatever the plan text font you are using happens to provide. This could potentially be improved, so I'll leave this open.

The "factory-preset" tempo text, IMV, is not really "score-ready". The bold formatting looks out of place. Wouldn't it be better to have the default setting without Bold?
No, bold is standard for tempo markings.
So on purpose and by design
