Project
On mac, when editing the font family of a text element, only the normal/regular and bold weights are listed. All other variants installed on the operating system are not available.
Furthermore, if a music sheet is loaded on mac, with element using light, medium, extra-bold... weights, a substitution font will be used instead (even if the font is installed on the machine).
Actually there is no workaround.
On Windows, all weight variants of a font installed on the os, are loaded and available correctly.

Hi Jojo, I just want to add my voice to the requests for this feature! I'd really like to utilize the included weights in my fonts other than just regular and bold.
The (obvious) workaround is to not use these fonts in the first place, but stick with Edwin or FreeSerif (or FreeSans). which come as part of MuseScore and therefore a guaranteed to render the same on every platform MuseScore runs on, including musescore.com

Just want to point out that the issue is with support for font features (weights beyond regular and bold), not discrepancies in how they render. Just clarifying because the workaround in the comment doesn't work around the issue at hand.
