Orchestra Sound Fonts
Does anyone know of a sound font where the strings do not sound like a 1960's era Hammond organ?
Nothing I have found so far sounds even remotely realistic. Here is the list I have tried so far:
Arachno SoundFont - Version 1.0.sf2
Clapp.sf2
FluidR3 GM2-2.SF2
GeneralUser GS MuseScore v1.442.sf2
HS Pads and Textures II.sf2
KBH-Real-Choir-V2.5.sf2
Orchestra Soundfont 2 COMBO.sf2
Sonatina_Symphonic_Orchestra.sf2
I am hoping there is something out there with truly realistic string fonts; free or $$$

Strings are probably the hardest to replicate. You may never be happy with free fonts. Plus, everyone has different ideas about what sounds realistic.
That said, the font that comes with MS 3 is not that bad. But you have to experiment with slow or fast EXP.
Try also:
Saint James Orchestral Soundfonts
Symphonic Sounds
Timbres of Heaven
For me French Horns are a problem.
MS3 is 100% good already provide score input/edit, pre-listen.
For next level, you need DAW with Kontakt Sound Libraries, Some plugins
and ALOT OF TIME to MIXING.
I made backing tracks to my violin students
for mid-small event since MS Version 1 era.
That's a mp3 demo of Orchestra Edition - Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch
currently i'm working on these but not finished.

P.S. You may find the Trills, Tremolo are weird to be fixed.

The sample you posted sounds good, but I suppose it is not created solely with Musescore. I suppose you used Reaper, as shown in the pictures.
You might try the Aegean Symphonic Orchestra soundfont, which a lot of people like. You can find on the usual soundfonts page. I personally think that it is too soft and prefer the MuseScore expressive instruments (I think that's the font the sounds I use belong to), but I've heard people say good things about it.
Finally, FINALLY ... I found a beautiful violin sound. I've been searching for weeks. I sought a violin that is expressive, very melodic, not harsh or shrill and really sounds like someone playing the instrument live. I found one.
It is called "Violin (all around)", and is one of the instruments in the free "Essential Keys - sforzando-v9.5.sf2 soundfont, available at https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u. The strings section is not the best I've discovered, but it is reasonable. I have not checked out all the other instruments, but the grand piano is quite good. For a very nice strings section (multiple strings), I have discovered a .sf2 strings font called "Strings_dsx_super_orchestra.sf2". it has four strings fonts, each of which are very nice. It is available at: https://www.polyphone-soundfonts.com/documents/17-bowed-strings/314-str…
Enjoy
