have been having a problem with using MuseScore .mxl files. When I load them into the Newzik app it loses the layout formatting and the colour of the chord symbols. I have already send information to Newzik who are investigating this.
Today by accident I opened one of the .mxl file in MuseScore3 and found the system text and rehearsal marks had lost their position formatting and the chord symbol text colour. I use these three features regularly in every piece I generate.
I have attached the .mscz, the associated PDF and .mxl. I have also attached the Pdf of the file when the .mxl was opened in MuseScore 3 showing the loss of formatting and colour.
Comments
See #101901: Music XML export: Offset values of fingering and other text objects are lost. Generally speaking we don't export manual position adjustments because there is usually no meaningful way to guarantee they will be interpreted the same way in another program.

But what if the other program is a(nother major version of) MuseScore? ☻

This is all well in manual positioning, but when you set up style format you would expect it to be implemented.
I have been trying to do this for both the system and stave text with limited success, but neither will be positioned where you would expect them to be, especially in the Y axis . The rehearsal mark is the same. I believe you should be able to set these parameters in the Format and have them implemented every time ????
There is also the matter of colour, what have the formatting option of colour if it is not exported into Music XML?
Thanks for reporting your problem. Unfortunately, exporting formatting (layout and colour) is not considered high priority and, with only limited resources available, may not get fixed on short notice.
Leon
Thank you for your reply. I can understand that you have limited resources, but I would hope you would consider it in the long term. at least I know not to waste anymore time and effort trying to achieve the impossible. MuseScore is still the best programme out there and will continue to use, but only for exporting PDF formatting.

Hi Andrew,
FYI, my priority ranking for MusicXML fixes is (highest to lowest):
- fixing crashes
- importing semantic information
- exporting semantic information
- exporting layout
Furthermore, we prioritise export fixes that support easy conversion to Braille.
Regards, Leon.
Hi,
sorry for excavating this old thread, but I would need import/export of musicxml colour tag for some project.
While exporting works fine, it seems like importing color tags does not work for most tags (like chords for instance, as in the example I provide here).
I understood from the previous discussion that it was not an high priority feature. Then, I was wondering if I could try to to add that feature? I quickly had a look at the github and maybe I could be able to do it, but would like to have the approval from a musescore developer before diving in.
Go to the issue this ist marked a duplicate of?

Is there a sanctioned way for the community to fund prioritization on bugs like this that are otherwise low priority for the development team, and an estimate of what that funding would need to be to prioritize it? The loss of color for chord symbols when importing MusicXML files is a blocker for a project that I am working on.
Short of just doing it yourself? No.
And note: this issue here is dead and done, marked as a duplicate of another.

As we are resource-limited, help is appreciated and you don't need permission to start working on some issue. Your contributions will be reviewed and may require rework to meet the quality standards before it is accepted though.
Actually the color part of this issue here is not being dealt with on that other issue, as far as I can tell?

Hi Leo, never apologize for offering to fix a long-standing missing feature :-)
We very much welcome extra hands in improving MuseScore. Take a look at the developer handbook (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/developers-handbook) to get started on compiling MuseScore yourself. Feel free to drop in the development chat on Telegram (or open a forum topic in the Dev subforum) if you encounter any difficulties whilst setting up.
Welcome aboard!

This is why I commented here, rather than there :) Is there an issue on that EPIC that is tracking the color issue, specifically? I can't seem to find it.
Well, this here is the issue for this then ;-)
