Musescore 3.3.4 unusable on ubuntu 19.10

Musescore 3.3.4 appimage on ubuntu 19.10 has a serious problem. The cursor is always clicked. Glued as if you are clicking left click continuously.

I don't see any problem on Debian, which I realize is not Ubuntu, but still - I don't think anything has changed on our end recently that could explain this. Maybe try rebooting (lame suggestion, I know, but it's all I've got).
