Does staccato play on strings?
I wanna make staccatos like they sound irl, but it just shortens the time the note is played, is there any way to correct that?

Staccato or pizzicato?
That's all staccato is, really. If you do mean pizzicato, you add that marking from the Text palette (and then "arco" to return to bowing after the pizzicato passage is over).
