File not readable after saving

I created an arrangement in Musescore yesterday, just one page, no big deal. Today it couldn't be opened. I looked inside the file, except for the header, there were only zeros. I can remember this happening to me about two years ago. Is there anything I can do besides caching numerous backups to avoid something like this in the future?
