re: delay in hearing notes being played on a midi input device

I use a Yamaha WX5 via a iRig midi 2 to play music via musescore on a laptop.

There is a noticeable and disturbing delay between playing a note and hearing it from the computer. Is there anything I can do to reduce this delay?
