Can We Change Guitar Sounds
Hey MS
How do we write a guitar part where the tone of the guitar changes in the chorus? We can document it in text but how do we get MS to switch the sound? I know we can change the instrument sound in the synthesizer for the whole score but I'm just asking for 8-16 bars at a time.
Thanks guys!

I had searched the handbook but wasn't finding the right answer. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you sir!

I had trouble adding the same instrument, so I found if I add an Acoustic Guitar, then manually switch the sound back in the mixer, and rename or hide the instrument change text on the staff it works. Now I can have one guitar and have the sound change mid score without having to create a whole new staff.

Don't know if this is what you are talking about, but you can add distort, overdrive, harmonics, or jazz tone, and use normal to remove that effect. Simply add the text from the Guitar palette to change the playback. On the MuseScore Basic electric guitar sound, it makes a marked difference. On the Muse Sounds guitars less so, but it's there.
But if you want to switch between, for example, the MuseSounds Les Paul - Clean sound and its Acoustic Steel - Plucked, you will have to use a separate stave.
On a side note, does anyone know if there's a difference between jazz tone and normal? Sometimes I think I hear a difference and other times not.

Wow this thread was dead for 7months all of a sudden there's people chiming in! I think you have a great work around Hutch. I haven't tried it yet but with the text notation is probably the most efficient work around. Glad you mentioned that. I'll try that this week.

Well, if this 'change of sound' is, in fact, what you want, it's not "a workaround". It's simply "the way you do it". :-) Hope that it helps!!!

The reason I came up with my 'workaround' is because when I use the Guitar palette text changes (e.g. normal, overdrive, distort, etc), I don't hear any change in the sound. I made sure to start a new track from scratch and not fiddle with the mixer settings for that track.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong :/
