Issues with Playback

I just downloaded the app for Windows 10 and playback is not working. All of the buttons are greyed out. I viewed some forum posts that said to reset it so I did that, nothing. Restarted my computer, nothing. In preferences>IO, all of the boxes to select devices do not do anything when clicked upon and are blank. Do I need a sound card or something for my computer? My motherboard has a build in sound chip and I've got headphones and stuff so IDK what the issue is.
