Rhythmic notation for eighth notes

So I'm having a very minor issue, I'm composing a song with eighth notes (surprise surprise) and I can't seem to find a way to notate it the way I want. The measure has an eighth rest and then has 3 eighth notes in succession. Personally I would notate this with the first of those eighth notes as a separate note (Second photo) but in the program it connects all three with a bar (first photo). This at the first cite read may be mistaken for a triplet so I was hoping to avoid the confusion. is there any way to just present it differently?
