Musescore version best suited for lyrics

• Feb 21, 2025 - 13:32

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I posted. I'm still using version 2.3. Yes, I know -why haven't I upgraded to version 4.0? It's because I use Musescore strictly for chord charting. I don't need any advanced features.

My issue is, I'd like to add lyrics to my scores but version 2 is clunky for that. Can I upgrade to version 4 and still use it for chord charting AND easily add lyrics?

Many thanks.

What do you mean by "chord charting"?

Mu3 has some improvements for lyrics vs. Mu2, like easily place them above staff, I'm not aware of any godd reason not to upgraded to 3.6.2 at least (maybe even my MuseScopre 3.7 Evolution), I'm on Mu3 since 3.0.2 or some such and never looked back.

Mu4 has those improvements too of course, but I've not made the move to that yet, due to multiple regressions vs. Mu3 and too few improvements I'd be interested in to compensate for those, but that's my personal view...

I couldn't find 3.6.2. I could only find the installer for 3.0 and it installed 3.3.4.9134! I can't see it in my Program (x86) folder. There's no uninstall listing in Programs and Features either. How do I get rid of this version? Very confusing. There's no direct link to 3.6.2 on the site, that I can see. If it's there, it's nicely tucked away somewhere.
