Automatically add double barline when changing tempo, key signature, time signature, etc.
This would be helpful, small quality of life change, to help make changing important info faster.

It would make this a lot slower for me, as then I have to revert all those barlines again...

Double barlines are commonly added when changing key signatures, or time signatures because those usually occur when a new section in a piece begins.

In some styles, yes. In others, no.
IIRC we had that for a short while, but that got reverted. Because it is not common enough to be done automatically
When this was implemented previously, it was generated automatically during layout, so it was hard to override, and deleting the key signature made the double barline go away again, etc. In that sense it was kind of like a courtesy key signature in that respect. That seems a bit extreme. Perhaps a better way to implement this would be as a program preference, so that if you enable the preference a double barline, would be added every time you added a key change, but then it would just be a double barline, you could just delete one and the other would be unaffected. Thus, no change to the layout code, just to the "add" code.
