Several conditions cause the “.mid” file player piano instruction to truncate a note/chord. The player piano activates the key(s), but for a very short period of time. Too short for the key hammer to hit the string. This results in missed notes/chord.
For two staves, the following conditions result in missed notes/chords:
1. If a note/chord repeats three times or more, notes/chords are missed
2. If the lead note/chord repeats within a slur, the note/chord is missed.
For three staves, any repeated note/chord is missed in the upper stave.
