Scale fingering patterns with open strings

Hi. I'm a new Musescore user and this is my first visit to this forum. It's tremendously valuable and the docs are really good.

I've been working on scale fingering patterns on my new 8-string guitar and I found that the fretboard diagrams work for this purpose almost perfectly. For example, I can easily do this one in Musescore.

But I can't see how to do this one because using the O symbol for an open string clears all the dots for that string.

Is there a workaround?

Fwiw, I think the open string symbol combined with finger fretting dots on one string is consistent with the basic idea of "Multiple dots".
