When I select the key signature in the score and then set the Key Signature Mode using the Key Signature palette, it resets to 'Unknown' when I save the score.
This an extremely useful feature for many reasons. My particular usage is for exporting MIDI files. Otherwise, I have to manually edit the MIDI file after export to correct the key signature. That is not ideal and is risky especially when there are multiple key signatures and multiple tracks.
Thanks!

I have exactly the same issue. The “Key Signature Mode” dropdown has no effect on the score, and resets when saving or when the key signature is unfocused and refocused. I was hoping that this dropdown would allow me to notate a song in a minor key in 4-shape notation, but apparently the 4-shape notehead option is hardcoded to only work for major keys.
This has also come up in #312455: Solfege in Minor Key which originated in Moveable Solfege. I really think this is a feature request rather than a bug.
The fact that this setting apparently doesn't get saved certainly is a bug
If it isn't saved, that's a bug for sure. But, the only effect this is meant to have is for MusicXML export - I think it is used for anything else. Any in particular, solfege-related feature use "la-based minor", meaning G is "do" whether referring to G major or E minor. So these features work in both major and min or keys as long as you are thinking la-based minor.
This seems to be a new bug then that I'm not sure where it would have been introduced. I've seen at some time in the past when it would save the mode.
See #271505: Allow user to set mode along with key signature.
