This is quite common in certain countries and areas, including east asian. It is especially useful in guitar education. The P I M A are placed on the correspondent string. Therefore, it indicates the fingering and string number simultaneously. It looks like this:

The Solfeggi against five-line-score
In most songs (singable songs), the key is in either natural major or minor, and they can be expressed by Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti. Even in some cases, there are key modulations or transpositions, the solfeggi is also applicable by indicating the key signature change. The importance of Solfeggi is that it indicates the role of each pitch, rather than only the name of a pitch. For example, Do is Tonic, Re is Supertonic, Sol is Dominant, and Fa is Subdominant. It is every useful in songwriting training and vocal performance. In Sibelius, there are third-party plugins to show the Solfeggi in contrast with the five-line-score.
