Mac iPad Sidecar Apple Pencil

• Apr 27, 2020 - 05:26

I'm having fun using MuseScore in sidecar mode with an Apple Pencil!

I don't know if I'd use it for a proper job, I think I'm probably quicker using it more conventionally but I've only been playing for 20 minutes and I'm finding it a fun way to compose. A bit like writing but you can hear the page. It feels good! :D

You navigate around the page with your fingers and edit draw etc with the pencil. It's a lot of moving in and out of notation mode by pressing [N] and [esc] and you have to be careful not to accidentally augment the bar size or shift the note from its play position.

Is there a thread discussing this yet? I couldn't find one. I'm interested in other peoples experiences with it. Any tips or tricks anyones worked out.. I imaging it would be a little different from note input on a windows touch screen, anyone tried both?

As always, sincere thank you to the MuseScore developers! You're the best!

Really? Can you use musescore on the iPad with sidecar ? This sounds great ! I’m actually using musescore app on my iPad Pro standing above my piano for practicing and experimenting but this app is very restricted compared to iMac version and also does not provide note edit only playback. Does the sound come through? I’m awaiting my first iMac which should arrive august. I’m so much looking forward to try this out.
