OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.5.0.11614, revision: 1ee2fe3

Chord symbol playback, being dependent on the staff instrument, inevitably defaults to a sound which is not only innappropriate but also clashes with and drowns out the existing music on the staff.

So some overall controllability needs to be added: For example, a seperate channel in the mixer (Chord symbols?) so that the user can adjust the volume and the playback instrument. For example, a piano or guitar sound might be appropriate in many cases.

or are you having something different in mind?
We might do better at a default sound for that channel for sure, like default to Piano for every instrument but plucked strings?

The problem is that the chord symbol channel doesn't show up in the mixer so no adjustment of instrument, volume or panning is possible.

Open the attached file and you can see/hear the problem for yourself. There's only one staff, the vocal line, and the chord symbols are attached to that staff. There needs to be an extra channel in the mixer for the chord playback.

IIRC it was discussed in the developers' chat whether to mute it by default (it is off by default in Preferences though) or assign a better default sound (IHMO Piano would better be a much better default, except for plucked strings probably).
