Round/Canon Numbers and working with palette symbols
I am working on compiling a set of rounds for my students. What is the best way to indicate the part entrance numbers? I've been using the string numbers (numbers inscribed in circles) from the fingerings palette, which is generally fine, although they're a little small. My big issue is that I have one round that can be sung in 8 parts, so I need 8 numbers, instead of the only 6 available (for obvious reasons). I've found similar symbols from the master palette and added them to the fingering palette for 7 and 8, but they are a little larger and do not automatically sit above the staff like the string numbers do. I discovered in the inspector that the string numbers appear to be text, not symbols. Is there some way for me to either add a similar 7 and 8 to the fingerings palette? Or is there a way to set properties for the number symbols I found on the master palette to have them sit above the staff? What's the best way to accomplish this??

Staff text or rehearsal marks
Since they are not string numbers at all, I wouldn't misuse those symbols just because they happen to look similar to what you want. Instead, I'd consider what type of element captures the meaning best. To me, it's a rehearsal mark. So I'd add one (Ctrl+M) and type the number you want. Or if adding from the palette, double-click it to edit the text after adding it (same works for string numbers, BTW). Then you can use the Inspector to change the frame to circle instead of square, and also change the size if desired (again, same applies to string numbers). If you need them to be able to appear mid-measure, better to use staff text, and then you'll need to add the frame (again, with the Inspector).
You can also then add one of these back the palette using Ctrl+Shift+drag, for easy reuse.
