You just need to open the file. I tried redownloading muse score but it always comes up strange

That score loads without any problem here.
Redownloading and reinstalling MuseScore rarly fixes problems, revertiong to factory setting much more often, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings
