Realize chord symbols: override with custom options ?

• Jul 23, 2020 - 20:16

I must be missing something with the function (version 3.5) : Realize chord symbols. Or something I'm expecting, and it is not really intended for that?

Example: I'm typing a C chord. Right-click -> Realize Chord Symbols -> Tick "Override with Custom Options" -> Voicing: say "Three note" -> Ok

I receive:

chord1.jpg

In Inspector now: say with two chords, C and D. I select them. Or only one.
In Voicing, I choose the same "Three note"
My hope is to receive the same result for several chords.

But here I got nothing.

Does this mean that this function "Convert chord symbols into notes/Override with Custom options" (a bit like the plugin, Expand chord Symbols into notes, ie https://musescore.org/en/project/expand-chord-symbols-notes) only works in the context menu ?
Or again, is there something I'm missing with the Inspector ?

EDIT: for the record, related to this question (on French forum): https://musescore.org/fr/node/308218

"Realize chord symbols" converts the chord symbol to notes right then and there, and displays the results in the staff.

The Inspector settings don't do that, they just control how the chord symbol is played when you use the normal playback.

So, if you want to see the notes, use "Realize chord symbols". If you just want to hear them, you don't need that command.

Either way, the voicing selection controls what notes are actually used.
