Double clicking a score and then disabling start center in preferences worked for me. Thanks. I'm running the 3.4 version on a Windows 8.0 64 bit OS but having the same 3.5 crashing problems that's related to the start center fouling up my AMD display driver before Musescore crashes altogether. The old 2.x version worked just fine on the Win 8.0, but can't read the 3.x files that I'm trying to transfer over.

Did you try a factory reset? Also, what OS?
After that try starting it by double clicking s score
If that works, disable startcenter in preferences
If not try running as Administrator
