In a part, how to make some notes not play
Hello everyone
I'm trying to use the "parts" feature to quickly create sheet music for choir practice that contains only one part (soprano, alto, tenor, or bass). Unfortunately, I want the lyrics to be visible, and unfortunately the lyrics are tied to the soprano notes, so I always have to include soprano in every part. This is not a problem per se, but I don't want the soprano notes to play. I have selected all soprano notes and then unchecked the Play option under Notes in the Inspector, but even so, when I play the part, the soprano notes play along with e.g. the alto notes.
What am I doing wrong here... why do the soprano notes keep on playing even though they're marked as not play? (Score attached)
Thanks
Samuel

What you did should work in my opinion though it slightly more difficult than what does work. Open the mixer while you are viewing the part and mute the soprano and you will only hear the alto in your attached score. If you select the main score after you do this, you will see that it doesn't affect the main score - which is good.

Hah, I find that easier ;-)

Thanks, I now see that the mixer option is a very good option, actually. So I'll just use my original sheet music and keep the mixer open. (This is for a Zoom experiment.)
Strange, this should work. But another (and probably easier) method is to mute that instrument in the Part using the Mixer, check the attached

Jojo, I don't have 3.5 on my computer. Did this work right in 3.5?

I did it in 3.5.0, so yes.

So no, unchecking play on the notes in the part doesn't mute the notes.

ahem, yes, no, this is confusing ;-)
Yes, the mixer works, no, muting notes does not
