Trying to correctly insert a half diminished symbol
Hi, writing a score and trying to insert a half diminished symbol when writing in the chord. In this case I'm using 'control' + T to enter chord and then write in the F# half diminished 7. I bring up the master palette and go to the chord symbols and created a custom palette so I could access the symbol. When I click to enter it, it shows as the symbol but then once I leave the text box, it reverts to a box with a question mark in it. I don't know if this is an operation error or a software version issue. thanks.

Try typing a zero.

Thanks!
Ctrl+T isn't how you enter chord symbols, that's for ordinary text. Chord symbols are Ctrl+K. Ordinary text won't do any of the things chord symbols should do - space themselves automatically, transpose, export to MusicXML, play back, etc.
When entering chord symbols, 0 gives the half-diminished symbol.

Thanks Mark, I found the control + K on follow up but missed the added 0 to make the symbol. One other question for you which I didn't see in the videos. When creating a score, as an alto sax player, I want to create my score for Eb not in concert when selecting key signature. However, it always seems to default to concert key and so I have to transpose which is fine but was wondering if there's a way to select it for Eb instruments first. thanks.

Key signatures are always entered in concert pitch.
