Cross compatibility

Can I save a file on pc then continue working on a mac computer (and vice-versa)?

Things to look out for are:
(1) using text fonts not installed on the other computer
(2) using soundfonts not installed on the other computer

In both cases though, the file will open, fallback to a different font and still work.
