This happens when I export my score to a midi file and then, right after, I export it to pdf.
1. File - Export - Save as type: (use mouse to choose) "Standard MIDI file..." results in a midi file being saved.
2. File - Export - Save as type: (window defaults to this option) "PDF File..." results in a midi file being saved.
If during step 2. I open the drop down and choose any other Save as type, and then choose PDF File, the problem goes away.
This happens with all scores I've made.

Oops, I can reproduce, with MIDI, but not with SVG or any other type
Difference (and possible culprit): for MIDI it shows 2 possible extensions, .mid and .midi. This is OK for Import (and there additionaly allows for .kar), but probably not for export.
Problem doesn't happen with MuseScore 3.6 RC , so I'm marking this issue fixed
